All programs are offered in a safe, supportive, inclusive environment. Women are asked to attend all workshops which are structured to provide them with the information and skills necessary live a longer and healthier life while managing their HIV infection.
Voices/Voces
A single session health education and risk reduction program that addresses the risk of HIV/STD infection and transmission.
Objectives for the program are to:
- Increase motivation and intentions to use condoms consistently
- Improve negotiation skill regarding condom use and safer sex practices
- Increase knowledge and HIV/STDs and how clients can protect their partners and themselves
- Increase understanding of personal risk for HIV/STDs and how to reduce it
Core Elements
Viewing of culturally-specific videos quickly transmit necessary information and models attitudes and behaviors regarding safer sex
Small-group skill-building sessions help clients develop and practice the skills they need to negotiate condom use.
Condom feature education provides clients with information about condoms and how to choose the one them and their partner will feel most comfortable using.
Distribution of sample condoms at the end of the session.
