Standing Committe Descriptions
The New Jersey Women and AIDS Network is open to anyone interested in advancing the mission to: 1) reduce the spread of HIV infection in women; 2) support the self-determination of women living with HIV/AIDS to better access quality care and treatment; 3) educate service providers; and 4) advocate for appropriate policies in the women and AIDS pandemic. NJWAN has the following standing committees:
By-Laws Committee
The purpose of the By-Laws Committee is to prepare, review, and propose amendments, as needed, to the By-Laws on an annual basis.
Education Committee
The purpose of the Education Committee is to develop a public awareness and education campaign aimed at ensuring that prospective members are aware of their needs and have access to necessary care for themselves.
Finance Committee
The purpose of the Finance Committee are: 1) to review the budget of all proposed programming to be funded by the corporation for cost effectiveness and feasibility; 2) to monitor all funded project expenditures on a quarterly basis and submit a written report to the Board of Trustees and the voting member on a quarterly basis; 3) to be responsible for reviewing all budget modifications for projects of the agency.
Nominating Committee
The Committee shall nominate a slate of candidates to stand for election to the Board of Trustees and to stand for election as officers of the agency.
Plan Development / Resource Committee
The purpose of this committee is to: 1) conduct a needs assessment of primary, secondary, and tertiary health care and supporting services in the state of New Jersey; 2) develop recommendations for programming and allocation of dollar amounts; and 3) explore and develop sources of funding for various aspects of the agency's activities, as well as develop programs/resources designed to support the goals of the agency.
Project Review Committee
The Committee is responsible for evaluating existing projects, reviewing proposals, and developing funding recommendations
Public Policy Committee
The purpose of the Public Policy Committee is to: 1) ensure that the general members of the agency are aware of relevant health policy issues at the local, state, and national levels, and 2) serve as a forum for recommending action on issues impacting on the delivery of health services for women living with HIV/AIDS
Ad Hoc Committee
The Board of Trustees may need to establish other committees as needed
